Overcoming Bulimia - Change Your Focus Strategy

    From what I can see the main problem with all bulimics is their focus. Where is their focus? - On food and binging-purging. Bulimia is always busy thinking about what they are going to a party, how they will get food, what time they will start etc.

    The problem is, if you spend all your time focusing on something the universe always give you what you focus on, always. So what bulimics get more of the same, the thought of food to the point it supersedes all other thoughts are helpful. Instead of thinking about friendship and interact with people and feelings-both their minds are stuck in a black hole they can not get out of.

    Task No. 1 for bulimia at this stage is to work on his / her mental focus. I understand bulimia may have physical problems with their body (such as fatigue, muscle pain, heart rate etc.) to stop them from doing much thinking, but they will not have to spend a lot of physical effort to change their focus.

    They just have to accept the fact that their minds are actually lying to them when it makes them think and feel that they are fat, useless, and no future. They believe the only thing they have is food as a drug to make them feel better. This is their brain playing tricks on them and they believed.

    Bulimia have to teach yourself to focus on things other than food and try to re-train yourself to get satisfaction from other things. As an example to be embraced in the study or do hobbies, interesting work and the like will go a long way to help them.

    Some would say that it is easier to say than done, but bulimics taught themselves to focus on the food quite easily so that they can easily focus on something else that is good for them, it's all just perception.

    Improvements in their focus will not happen overnight because they did not get to where they are now in one night they do not? They have to start from scratch and taking baby steps one by one.

    Confucius said: "That even the longest journey begins with one step" so this is what they should do, one step then a single step and so on and so on.

    To make the first step toward address the baby bulimic must first start by replacing all of his / her mind with thoughts of other good bulimic.

    For example, when one starts thinking about a party preparations (what he'll feast on, etc. how to be cooked) tries to stop the mind immediately and think of something else. For example what movie I want to see, or what I want to do or what I want to get a promotion at work, what kind of clothes I want to buy and want to rest now. (Depending on the person). It will take some effort at first, but the more someone is getting easier.

    Another technique that helps to change the focus is to create a dream board. Take a piece of cardboard (at least 30cm x 50cm), old magazines and glue sticks. Look through magazines and find pictures that match what you want to have in life or what you want to be. Take scissors and cut the pictures that you have chosen and paste it on cardboard (more is better). The main point here is the image that should be in accordance with your wishes and desires.

    When you fill the carton with a picture (and maybe a few slogans and sayings that inspire you) put this cardboard on the wall where you can see it all the time. Everyday you spend time looking cardboard and think about what you like or want to be.

    And every time you start dreaming about binging - go and see your true wishes and desires on the carton and think that every binge-purge is taking you away from things that really want to achieve and want to be.

    Thinking that it's bulimia that you want to party and bulimia is lying to you again and again about how you feel and that bulimia is your enemy.

    In reality it boils down to which side you will take: you are supporting your wishes and desires, or bulimia, binging supporting clean and keep you out of the good things you want in life.

    To conclude, change the mental focus is the main and most important thing to overcome bulimia. If a bulimic does not change his / her focus would not be possible for them to become healthy again.
